We build a lot of agents at Buster. So, we’d love for you to build an agent.

Build a simple coding agent, similar to Claude Code that you can interact with via command line or the medium of your choice. You are allowed to use AI coding tools.

Frankly, you can have Cursor or Claude Code read this article and basically build an agent for you - and you should. This isn’t a trick question, if its you’re first time building an AI agent, we highly recommend you follow along and basically just translate the code to Typescript.

One important note is that we hope and expect you to understand the code you write.

We think you can have a well-built, functional agent in ~4 hours. We don’t want you to spend more than 7 hours on this.

Here are the minimum requirements:

• Read, write, list, search, and edit files
• Run bash commands from command line
• Ability to interact with the agent (via Command Line or other way)
• Written in Typescript (we recommend using AI SDK)
• One extra feature that you think would be cool, fun, or helpful. Here are some examples or ideas:
  • Subagents
  • Agent Hooks
  • File references
  • MCP integration
  • Or anything else you want
• Dallin should be able download, clone, install, etc. and run it on his computer. Include clear instructions for how to actually run your project.

We expect you to have fun with this. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t enjoy the work you’ll be doing at Buster.
